Happy 60th Birthday to A Beautiful Lady

October 19th, 1948, Patricia Gayle Herrmann's life began. She was a beautiful baby on all accounts. Sixty years later and 3 children, one son in law, and a little granddaugther later she is still beautiful. She is sister, auntie, mom, and gramsy. She is creative and imaginative, funny and kindhearted. She is so many things and to each of us, something a little different. Today, we celebrate her 60th birthday, but much much more than that we celebrate the person she is.

Deserves a Good Latte

Happy 60th Pat,

Well, this deserves a good latte, so…..I’ve got mine….what about you? Hey, a good glass of wine would be OK too! At any rate, I’ve been blessed to have you as my sister(in-law) and friend for over 33 years, wow, that’s more than half your life! In fact, I guess it’s really your fault that I’m part of your family since it was you my wonderful husband came to see when I was lucky enough to meet him!! However, even before that you were part of my life as my Sabbath School teacher for Single Adults back in Cortland , and a good teacher you were, very down to earth and real about things. Oh yes, and you owned the great little Health Food Store just down the road that I enjoyed frequenting, and I guess I began to frequent even a little more after Jamie showed up behind the counter.

Well, through the years, we’ve enjoyed lots of happy and sad times together….the key word together. We’ve shared…well, shopping is a given, eating out now and then, a latte or cup of coffee together around the table or out on the deck, , scrap-booking together, sharing the loss of loved ones, celebrating birthdays and holidays together when possible, but mostly just hanging out and sharing our lives.

Thanks fore being a part of my life! I love you!

Judy

Thinking of You

Thinking of you! Happy Birthday! Love You! Hope you have a great Day!

Come By Anytime

Hey Patricia,
Where to start? Like most siblings, we've been through a lot together.
I'm not much for phone calls, probably because I don't hear like I did when I was a kid. I kind of miss having you close by so I can just go down the hill and see you. But that makes it extra special when we do get to visit I guess. Come by any time! (We need to get Southwest to stop in Ashville...)
And thanks to you, I have one of the most important things in my life ~ my family. If I hadn't come up to New York to see you when I was working in Mississippi, I wouldn't have met Judy and my life would have been pretty different. Then again, karma is a weird thing and maybe I would have met her somehow anyway. But I'm glad it worked out the way it did and thanks for singing at my wedding!
Thanks for putting up with me the last 54 years...
~Sir James

I Always Enjoy Anything We Do

Dearest Pat,
It was so rewarding to know that you were so happy today after all the planning that Marca, Kaneesha, and I did for today. Our mission was accomplished. It was actually really fun to do this, and very easy, also, because of all that you do for me, Pat. I want you to know that I am very happy that I have you and that we can spend so much time together. I always enjoy anything we do, whether it's going to Wal-mart or eating at Cheddar's or watching Kill Bill. We should do this again sometime- care to have a birthday again this time next month? I'll tell ya what: Have your people call my people, and we'll do lunch.
I love you,
Rose

This is Just a Tribute

mmm. What to write about my wonderful Aunt Pat? The reason this is so difficult is because she is truely one of the most unique and caring people I have encountered in my life. She has the gift of relating to children in a way that gives them confidence in their opinions, not a small thing when dealing with shy, young Heidi. I will always cherish the summers we shared together and all the time I spent with my Age cousins. I believe that because of her, the worst year of my life was also marked by an overwhelming feeling of love, not only for what was lost but for what I still had. So today, on her birthday, I hope she listens to ABBA, drinks a fine cuppa, and watches her favorite movie. I only wish I could be there with her. Cheers, and happy birthday!

You are the Greatest

Aunt pat, you are the greatest. You are such a wonderful and caring person with such a big heart! It was great to see you again when you were visiting. I wish you could have stayed longer. Happy Birthday and I love you. ~Cindy~

Ice Cream Cones & Daffodils

Every early spring, I eagerly anticipated my traditional outing with my mom. Although, as a little girl I was never far from my mom's sight and spent many a day doing laundry at the laundromat or grabbing groceries at the market or stopping by the bakery, there was a particular event with my mom that I looked forward to more than any all year. It was the start to my favorite season- spring. And so, to usher in the new season into our little home, I would go with my mom to pick my absolute favorite flower in the whole wide of the universe...the daffodil. I love colors and pretty things and beautiful smells. To the average person, a daffodil may not embody all those things but to me, it did. Each year, it was a special time when I would get to be a big girl with my mom and we would pick this beautiful flower that to me represented happiness, beauty, and the beginning of something wonderful. Much of what I love about my favorite flower (and I am quite passionate about daffodils) I love about my mom. As children, we were always amazed at our mom's creativity, storytelling and childlike laughter. Her imagination and fun spirit encouraged us to explore our own adventures in our mind's eye. So, I loved my outings with my mom because I loved these beautiful flowers that were so different and whimsical and so much like my own mom. My other favorite outing with mom was our weekly ice cream cones. Ice cream has always been my greatest tasty treat and the walks to get a delicious ice cream cone that was all my own were always a treat, but like most other memories it wasn't so much the treat itself but the experience. And for me, it was another outing with mom that made it so special. Mom created adventures and experiences in our daily routines that made us feel important and loved. Whether it was board games, a day all curled up on her bed while she read to us all day from a chapter book while the world outside went on its merry way, listening to records together and singing along...Mom took the time to be present...to be with us in such fun imaginative ways. That is so much of who she was as a mom and who she is as a whole person...imaginative, creative, artistic, loving, humorous and kindhearted, giving and adventurous. Today, I have my own little one who loves her Gramsy for all the same wonderful things I see in her. I am so thankful that she knows my mom for the beautiful person she is. And in the spring each year, I am not always with my mom, but I am in a sense, as Graceanna and I go pick the first daffodils of spring and as our adventure nears its end and we arrive back home I see in my daughter's eyes that same spark of excitement that another little girl had when coming home from a special day with her mom.

Mom, today, you are 60 years young and I don't want to miss this chance to honor not just your birthday but who you are and who you are to me. I love you for all the stories, laughter, painting, songs, dances, records, icecream cones and daffodils, but most of all, I love you for who you are... a beautiful lady...inside and out.

I love you and a very happy birthday!

Ice Cream Cones & Daffodils,
Marca
